Must Do Sydney Walk - Top Sydney Walk For Harbour Views
As a local Sydneysider, I never get tired of this walk or this view. Today I was thinking how incredible this would be for a visitor to our beautiful city. It's an easy walk with loads of cafes and eateries or picnic spots along the way as well as a few must-do detours. You could do it in a couple of hours walk or even make a day of it.
What you'll need:
Water bottle
Opal Card
Good walking shoes
Snacks or money for a coffee
Start:
Wynyard Station
End:
Circular Quay
Distance:
Around 7km
1. Wynyard
Exit 1 to Wynyard Park
2. City
Turn right and walk down York. Just before Grosvenor, cross over York at the light, then across Clarence at the Zebra crossing. You'll come to a walkway that goes under the road. Follow is through to Kent street. Walk down Kent until you come to the Observatory Hill entrance on the right. It is well signed so just follow up the steps.
3. Observatory Hill
Walk to the left of the Observatory buildings, you'll see Barrangaroo and Crown Casino then you'll come out to the Rotunda.
You'll probably want to use this stop for a quick drink and take some photos.
Head down the hill on the other side of the rotunda, cross the road and you'll come to the Bridge Stairs.
Go down the steps and under the road to get to the bridge crossing on the other side.
Go up these steps and then you'll walk across the Bridge.
The Bridge can be a great place to take a high speed video going across to get your phone ready. Or if you're planning on taking photos instead then I hope it's not too windy for you.
4. Walk Across The Harbour Bridge
At the end of the Bridge, head down the steps into Kirribilli. Here you can grab and coffee if you like and go and sit and enjoy the view at Milsons Point for a while.
5. Milsons Point
6. Luna Park
Walk along the boardwalk alongside Luna Park and you'll continue on to Peter Kingston Walkway toward Lavender Bay.
7. Wendy's Secret Garden
At the first tunnel go right and up the stairs and right again into Wendy's Secret Garden.
Have a look around at Brett Whiteley sculptures, admire the ancient Mortn Bay Fig trees and sit and enjoy the garden for a while.
8. Lavendar Bay
Walk all the way around the bay and at the end before the white building are steps up to King George Street. Keep walking until you get to Blues Point Road. There is a good cafe across the road for a coffee or a bite.
9. Blues Point Reserve
A small park with unobstructed views of the harbour. Keep going to the end of the park and you can walk around the headland or go up the steps and sit in the lovely park with a view back to the harbour.
10. McMahons Point Ferry
Come out of the little park from the way you came in, so back up Blues Point Road and turn right. Jump on a ferry to Circular Quay.
