I've only ever been to Curly for Bird photography so this was a new experience. I nearly didn't go but decided that life is too short and you should take the opportunity when you are invited to do so.  The reason I was hesitant was that yesterday, I shattered my graduated neutral density (GND) filter which I use at every seascape shoot. Big bummer. This piece of glass is around $200 to replace. I was really disappointed but that's life so I decided to go anyway and see what I could come up with. The tide was high and the swell was good so I did get wet but the water was warm and it actually felt really good. Wish I'd brought my swimsuit!   It has been high tide at sunrise for a while and not conducive to a good photo so we were pleased to finally be out shooting again. With the tide receding and a decent amount of wind creating some nice movement in the water and a dramatic sky, all the elements came together. I've only shot at Collaroy once before so not familiar with its nuances. I had to quickly look around for interesting possibilities and there were a few. I stop and watch the way the waves move around and over the rocks then look for a position to stand. Sometimes this means I get wet, which I did today. I come prepared for that. You do what it takes. The only ones crazier than photographers are the rock fisherpeople!!   Lethargic after the excitement of a busy Christmas, a long lazy afternoon watching cricket on TV with my Dad and Pop was the perfect Boxing Day and a childhood memory I cherish. Greg Chappell, Dennis Lillee, Doug Walters, Rodney Marsh, who I think my Dad modelled his moustache on, were familiar names and the topic of much conversation in our household. When we weren't watching cricket, we were playing it on my Uncle Reg's farm or if it was too hot, playing the Crown and Andrew's cricket game Test Match with my brother in my room. How many times we lost that little metal ball! Living overseas for 13 years, I lost touch with the game. Through friends, I've recently discovered the love of the game again and with it, I have made some new friends. Yesterday was my first ever live match.   As a local Sydneysider, I never get tired of this walk or this view. Today I was thinking how incredible this would be for a visitor to our beautiful city. It's an easy walk with loads of cafes and eateries or picnic spots along the way as well as a few must-do detours. You could do it in a couple of hours walk or even make a day of it.   What you'll need: Water bottle Opal Card Good walking shoes  Snacks or money for a coffee Start: Wynyard Station End: Circular Quay Distance: Around 7km 1.  Wynyard Exit 1 to Wynyard Park 2. City Turn right and walk down York. Just before Grosvenor, cross over York at the light, then across Clarence at the Zebra crossing. You'll come to a walkway that goes under the road. Follow is through to Kent street. Walk down Kent until you come to the Observatory Hill entrance on the right. It is well signed so just follow up the steps.  3. Observatory Hill Walk to the left of the Observatory buildings, you'll see Barrangaroo and Crown Casino
